Scar recovery after C-section

Proper scar management is essential in the healing process following a C-section, and the Scarban C-Section Recovery Kit is specifically designed to support post-caesarean scar care. This kit aids in achieving the best possible scar recovery by using a medical-grade silicone sheet that protects the scar, reduces moisture loss, and promotes optimal healing conditions. It helps prevent abnormal scarring and significantly improves the appearance of the scar, making it more flexible, flatter, and less red, while also relieving associated itching and pain.

Up to 50% of scars become hypertrophic after surgery. To minimise risk of an abnormal scar after a C-section surgery, it is important to start scar treatment as soon as the wound has fully closed. Treatment can continue as long as the scar remains active or causes discomfort. Scarban C-Section can also be used preventively in patients with risk factors for abnormal scar formation.

Scarban C-Section is a specialised silicone scar therapy developed specifically for C-section aftercare. It is elastic, self-adhesive, washable, durable, and provides UV protection (UPF 50), making it safe and easy to use on all skin types. As a preferred therapy for both the prevention and treatment of scars, it offers a proven, non-invasive, evidence-based solution for effective scar management.

Frequently asked questions

You can begin applying silicone scar sheets once your surgical incision has fully healed—this means the stitches are out, the skin is completely closed, and any scabs have fallen off. This timing is crucial to ensure proper adhesion and to avoid disturbing the healing process. For the best outcome, it's recommended to start as early as possible after the skin is fully healed.

For maximum effectiveness, wear the silicone sheet for a minimum of 12 hours per day, gradually increasing wear time to up to 23 hours as your skin becomes accustomed to it. Regular cleaning of the sheet helps maintain its stickiness and effectiveness.

Scarban silicone sheets are proven to work well on both fresh and older scars.

You should continue using silicone scar sheets as long as the scar remains elevated, red, or uncomfortable. On average, noticeable improvement takes between 3 to 6 months, but some scars may require longer treatment. Each Scarban sheet can typically last between 4 to 8 weeks if properly cared for. Depending on your scar’s healing progress, you may need additional sheets for extended use.

Each Scarban C-Section Recovery Kit includes one silicone sheet. When cleaned and maintained appropriately, a single sheet can usually be used for around 4 to 8 weeks. If your scar requires longer care, you may need to replace the sheet and continue treatment with additional sheets as needed.
