Duration of use

Each pack of Scarban contains one or more silicone sheets. If used correctly and cared for properly (according to the instructions for use), each pack of Scarban Elastic is sufficient for approximately 4 to 8 weeks of treatment. In the event of long-term therapy, several packs may therefore be necessary.

Scarban Elastic supports effective scar reduction by creating the ideal healing environment for damaged skin. Its extra-thick 1.4 mm medical-grade silicone layer works by forming a protective barrier over the scar, helping to lock in moisture and regulate hydration levels within the tissue. This consistent hydration is key to softening and flattening raised scars over time.

By maintaining optimal moisture balance, Scarban Elastic helps reduce excessive collagen production, which is often responsible for thick, abnormal scars such as hypertrophic and keloid scars. At the same time, it protects the area from external irritants, allowing the skin to recover without disruption.

Regular use can visibly improve the appearance of scars by reducing redness, smoothing uneven texture, and easing common symptoms like itching, tightness, or discomfort. The elastic backing also provides gentle support, helping the sheet stay securely in place while adapting to body movement, making it especially suitable for larger or more active areas of the body.

 

Instruction for use.

 

Step 1: Ensure the Wound is Fully Healed

Only begin using Scarban Light once the wound has completely closed, with all sutures removed and no scabs remaining. Using silicone too early may interfere with proper healing.

Step 2: Prepare the Skin

Clean the skin thoroughly and make sure it is completely dry before application. Remove any oils, creams, or residue, and consider trimming or removing hair around the scar area to improve adhesion.

Step 3: Cut to Size if Needed

Trim the silicone sheet so it comfortably covers the entire scar, including an additional 2 cm of surrounding skin. This ensures optimal treatment coverage.

Step 4: Apply the Silicone Sheet

Place the sheet directly over the scar with the adhesive side facing down. Smooth it gently to ensure full contact with the skin without air gaps or wrinkles.

Step 5: Build Up Wearing Time

When first using Scarban Light, gradually increase the amount of time you wear it each day to allow your skin to adjust. This helps minimise the risk of irritation.

Step 6: Wear Daily for Best Results

For effective scar management, wear the silicone sheet for at least 12 hours per day, up to a maximum of 20 hours, or as advised by your healthcare provider.

Care Instructions.

Step 1: Cleaning
•    Rub the sheet with a few drops of Scarban silicone cleaning soap or neutral soap and lukewarm water.
•    Rinse the Scarban silicone sheet well under lukewarm, running water so that all dirt and soap residue is removed.
•    After contact with soap and water, the adhesive strength disappears, and the silicone sheet rolls up.
 

Step 2: Drying
•    Let the Scarban silicone sheet dry (adhesive side up) on a dry, lint-free, clean surface.
•    During drying, the sheet will automatically unwind, and its adhesive strength will gradually return.
•    Use the silicone sheet only when it is completely dry.
•    If the edges of the silicone sheet become damaged and less adhesive over time, they can be trimmed.
