About the training
Across both oncology and lymphatic care, clinicians are frequently managing post surgical presentations, radiation affected skin, fibrosis, tissue tethering, compromised skin integrity, and long term tissue change. Despite this, many clinicians have received limited practical education in scar therapy application, product selection, and protocol integration within these clinical remits.

This training is designed for clinicians working across oncology, lymphoedema, rehabilitation and postoperative care, including lymphoedema therapists, occupational therapists, hand therapists, physiotherapists, oncology rehabilitation clinicians, lymphatic clinicians and women’s health clinicians.
It is particularly relevant for clinicians who regularly manage scar presentations, radiation affected tissue, fibrosis, tissue tethering, compromised skin integrity or long term tissue change.
Scar therapy is often introduced late, despite scar quality having a direct impact on comfort, mobility, function and patient confidence.
This training gives clinicians a practical foundation in scar therapy, with a focus on recognising scar presentations earlier, understanding tissue quality, selecting appropriate products and applying treatment pathways with greater confidence in clinical practice.
By the end of the session, clinicians should have a clearer understanding of common scar presentations across oncology and lymphoedema care, the relationship between scar quality and patient outcomes, skin integrity considerations in compromised tissue, silicone therapy principles, hydration and barrier support, fibrosis and mobilisation concepts, and practical scar therapy implementation.
Emma is a specialised clinical scar massage therapist, a leader in her field, with a reputation for excellence. Well known for being able to get results using non-invasive treatment approaches. With almost 30 years of experience as a therapist, Emma is leading education in scar therapy and regularly teaches to NHS and private hospital staff, as well as therapists working in private practice with courses in UK and internationally.
Emma has taught scar therapy courses to the Military of Defence occupational therapy team and to therapists at UKs leading cancer hospitals. Emma has been awarded Inspirational Tutor of the year in 2023 by TPOT for her courses on scar therapy and the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) awarded Emma as Highly Commended Complementary Therapist of the Year 2017. Emma loves to give back and lead a team of volunteers with Help for Heroes and has provided a team of therapists to support the Invictus athletic team, delivering over 550 treatments 2017 - 2022, and supported Dans Fund for Burns with free therapy treatments at their wellbeing event in 2023. Over 2,000 free scar therapy appointments have been provided via the Restore Therapy Pledge, and we aim to reach 5,000.

The training includes structured online learning, live clinical education, case discussion, product application and Q&A. Clinicians should keep the certificate with their CPD portfolio as evidence of participation.
