Mepilex® Ag is a versatile antimicrobial absorbent foam dressing developed by Mölnlycke for wound management where antimicrobial action is required to help reduce bioburden. It is intended for use on low to moderately exuding burns and wounds and may be used under compression bandaging where clinically appropriate.

The dressing contains silver to provide antimicrobial activity and is designed to help inactivate wound relevant pathogens, including bacteria and fungi. In vitro testing has demonstrated antimicrobial activity within 30 minutes. International consensus supports the use of antimicrobial dressings to help reduce bioburden in infected wounds and to act as an antimicrobial barrier in wounds at high risk of infection or re infection.

Mepilex Ag incorporates Safetac soft silicone contact technology, allowing the dressing to adhere gently to intact skin without sticking to the wound bed. This supports atraumatic dressing changes and helps reduce pain during removal, including in patients with fragile skin.

Mepilex Ag may be used on infected wounds as part of an overall treatment regimen under the supervision of a qualified health care professional.
