SecurPlast is a premium splinting thermoplastic developed for clinicians who require predictable handling during fabrication and dependable rigidity once cooled. It offers controlled drape, strong resistance to stretch, and excellent memory, supporting splints that must maintain form under sustained load. The material softens evenly, bonds cleanly, and sets into a firm final structure, while its refined surface characteristics support comfort, durability, and clinical presentation across a broad range of splint designs.

Resistance to Stretch

High resistance to stretch once activated and cooled, allowing splints to maintain their intended shape under sustained load and repeated use. Particularly suited to applications where creep or elongation would compromise function.

Rating: Moderate to Maximum

Drape

Controlled drape that allows the material to conform when guided, without excessive flow or collapse. Supports accurate shaping around anatomical contours while maintaining structural control.

Rating: Moderate

Memory

Excellent memory, enabling the material to reliably return to its original dimensions when reheated. Supports remoulding and clinical adjustments without degradation of performance.

Rating: Maximum

Rigidity

Sets into a firm, supportive structure once cooled, providing dependable stabilisation and positional support. Suitable for splints where high structural integrity is required.

Rating: Moderate to Maximum

Bonding

Demonstrates consistent self bonding when reheated, allowing secure joins and layered construction without additional adhesives.

Bonding Level: Medium

Surface Finish

Refined matte smooth surface designed to withstand frequent handling while maintaining a clean clinical appearance. The material resists visible fingerprints and handling marks, tolerates repeated adjustment, and presents a smooth, velvety tactile finish that supports patient comfort.

Finish Classification: Handling resistant smooth finish

Variants

Applications

Can be handled gently or aggressively during fabrication and remains dimensionally stable once cooled. Floats in water due to its material composition, supporting ease of handling during heating and moulding.

Use 3.2 mm SecurPlast where maximum rigidity and structural support are required, including stabilisation splints and load bearing designs for forearms and wrists.

Use 2.4 mm SecurPlast for general purpose splints requiring a balance of support and workability, including functional day or night splints for hands, wrists, fingers, and thumbs.

Use 1.6 mm SecurPlast where lighter support and reduced bulk are preferred, including circumferential splints and applications requiring lower rigidity with maintained shape control.

Working Time

Provides a controlled working window after softening, allowing sufficient time for moulding and refinement before setting into a stable final form.

Time: 1 to 2 minutes
