Scarban silicone sheets are a medical device. Follow the instructions that come with the product. And always follow the advice of your practitioner. This page provides a brief outline of instructions for use. Download the instructions for use for full information.
1. Use Scarban only after complete wound closure (after removal of sutures and disappearance of any scabs).
2. Make sure that an area of 2 cm bordering the scar is also covered by the silicone sheet. If necessary, the Scarban silicone sheet can be cut to the correct size.
3. For good adhesion and durability of the Scarban silicone sheets, remove hair around the scar site.
4. Clean and dry the skin thoroughly before applying the sheet.
5. Please build up the wearing time of Scarban carefully, so your skin can get used to the silicone.
6. For best results, it is important to use Scarban silicone sheets on the scar for at least twelve consecutive hours, every day. Maximum 20 hours.
7. For good hygiene and in order to maintain adhesion, Scarban silicone sheets should be cleaned daily (e.g. while showering). Rub the sheet with a few drops of Scarban silicone cleaning soap or neutral soap. This keeps the silicone in good condition and maintains good adhesion.
Each pack of Scarban contains one or more silicone sheets. If used correctly and cared for properly (according to the instructions for use), each pack of Scarban Elastic is sufficient for approximately 4 to 8 weeks of treatment. Each pack of Scarban Light is sufficient for approximately 2 to 4 weeks of treatment. In the event of long-term therapy, several packs may therefore be necessary.
Scarban silicone sheets should be cleaned daily to maintain adhesive strength.
Step 1: Cleaning
Rub the sheet with a few drops of Scarban silicone cleaning soap or neutral soap and lukewarm water.
Rinse the Scarban silicone sheet well under lukewarm, running water so that all dirt and soap residue is removed.
After contact with soap and water, the adhesive strenght disappears and the silicone sheet rolls up.
Step 2: Drying
Let the Scarban silicone sheet dry (adhesive side up) on a dry, lint-free, clean surface.
During drying, the sheet will automatically unwind and its adhesive strenght will gradually return.
Use the silicone sheet only when it is completely dry.
If the edges of the silicone sheet become damaged and less adhesive over time, they can be trimmed.
